Good job! A suggestion : I'm no software expert, but just wondering, you've added a new font, but can't this be added on to the symbols? All currency symbols are available in the Insert option in MS Word. Can we not use this from there?

It was really grt job. we proud of them. Rupee symbol installation is very simple.

I appreciate your work.But the symbol does not exactly resemble the official symbol.The two lines in the symbol have slant finishing..where as the symbol downloaded by the above said procedure does not have a slant finishing.

This is so cool! But ... As Pradha has pointed out, it would be more prudent to add this symbol to the list of symbols in the "Insert Symbol" option in MS Word, rather than use a new font just for this. In other words, this symbol should be available in all the commonly used font types (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, etc)

I installed it and pressed ~ key, with and without SHIFT key. The symbol didnt appear. So what does this download actually do?

Great work. It would be even better if this symbol is available as a key stroke to go with any font. Otherwise without this font on their system will not see the rupee symbol.

I was able to make this work on Ubuntu, it worked well. Thank you!

Download the zip file, extra the ttf file.. right click and open font viewer.
Now click on install to install the font.. now you are done.

Open OpenOffice, select this font and press the ` key (above tab) to put the symbol.

For those of you having problems with the symbol working, whichever program you are using, example word, search and change the font to Rupee Foradian and then click on the ` or ~ key above tab and it should work. Use the same method in other programs by changing the font.

I think version 2 is better than version 3 but you can't tell the difference when the font is smaller. Is it possible to create an emoticon to use in windows live messenger and such? The symbol can't be seen by other chatters unless they download the font.

The symbol written in devnagiri lipi looks fine.

I congratulate the developers of the rupee symbol and foradians for the font.

There is no reason to be proud being Indian just because of the symbol. Our economy should improve with local resources.

Govt. Spokesperson said it will take an year or so to incorporate the symbol for use in computers. Hats off to Foradian Tech. One can imagine now how Govt. function. They make " rai ka Pahar ".

I found the new Indian rupee symbol has some similarity with the symbol of Marxist Communist Party. When closely examine you could trace a sickle, hammer and a part of star. Good work.

I am saluting you guys for this achievement by coming out with our Rupee symbol within such a short time limit. Unimaginable! I noticed one thing is that for larger amount separation with comma is not possible, unless if you type manually. You can be come out with the solution. Wish you all the best.

In this font, the rupee sign is mapped to Unicode Rs symbol, so if the font is not present in the PC where a document containing this symbol is viewed, then the old Rs sign will be shown, which is better then showing a accent sign in place of Rs sign.

The font should be available for download as a '.ttf' file. That would be convenient to use accross all platforms and operating systems, not just Windows.

I agree with Pradha (24 July 2010, though this font can be brought upto INSERT SYMBOL in MSWord but in a slightly longish way. To get it there simpler way like Euro etc is up to microsoft, Hopefully POWER of INDIA will get it there.

It works very nicely and the same font can be used as default so that no need to change the font type for getting the rupees symbol.

Could you please let us know what the license of the font is. Once the license is known the whole world would soon be able to use your beautiful symbol.

I am agree with @chetan, there should a keyboard shortcut of rupee symbol.

version 3 is a bad revision for two reasons,
1. the edges of the symbol have been chipped off, that is not how the original symbol is.
The slanted edges are an important factor of our indian script (lippy).

2. the sharpened end at the left end of the circular part is also not done correctly, the correct way of drawing it is to maintain the slanting of the edge parallel with respect to the top two lines.

hope to see a corrected version...

It is a good development and thanks for providing it free. It is OK with Text, but crucial in spreadsheet applications. I can't apply maths function with this character, whereas $ symbol works.

In Microsoft Word you can include AutoCorrect to automatically replace the Rs. with the Rupee symbol whenever you type Rs.

Follow the instructions printed below:

1. First of all type the Rupee symbol using the Rupee font in a document.

2. Copy this to your clipboard.

3. Go toe the Microsoft Office Menu : Insert ==> Auto Text ==> Auto Text … ==> AutoCorrect

4. Enter Rs. in “Replace:” field .

5. Paste the Rupee symbol in “with” field , from clipboard.

6. Click Add button.

That is it… Whenever you type Rs. in Microsoft Word it will be replaced with the new Rupee Symbol.

If you don’t want the auto conversion simply press Control+Z immediately.

I used it on linux but for my windows PC I should better use raw file as I dont have winRAR s/w.
Thanks for the rupee font. Great work there. But would you upload a zip file instead of rar?
rar requires additional software app which may or maynot be there on your viewers PC.

It is a pleasure to use the Indian Rupee symbol to establish separate identity for indian rupee which was not available to us.

It works good but is it not too big compared to the numbers used with it? Tried reducing the rupee font size keeping the text size normal. Looks awkward. Any suggestions to overcome this or is it supposed to be the way it appears?
And yes, the symbol (₹) does not work here. Please let me know if the symbol does not appear box-like to any of you.

Version 2.00 font is official as per Govt. Notification. Version 3.00 is slightly different than official symbol.

Everything is fine except position of the middle horizontal stroke. The upper half looks heavy and unbalanced. I feel it should be lowered just a little, may be at the visual centre of the upper half-circle. Nevertheless, full praise to those who developed it and made it official. Kudos ...

I have already download rupee foradian symbol version 2.0, but it is already use in ms-word & excel page. But I don't know how to I use this in e-mail page, I mean when I send a mail from my ID, then how to I use this symbol?

i THINK THE 2.0 VERSION IS THE CORRECT ONE AND IT ACTUALLY RESEMBLES THE SYMBOL. BUT THE 3.0 VERSION IS STRAIGHT.

Some of the friends here may be benefitted from a MS Word Macro that insert the Indian Rupee symbol at the cursor position, followed by a non-breaking space (so the Rupee symbol and amount stay together). For this, first install the Rupee Foradian font as instructed, then create a new MS Word Macro (and give it a keyboard shortcut -- I gave it: Ctrl-Shift-Alt+r). The Matro is as under:

I am facing an unique problem.. I not finding "Rupee Foradian" in font menu after shutting down computer every time...Every time I have to Install it... But at the time of installation a message showing that THE IS ALREADY INSTALLED...How do i get rid off this problem..kindly inform at abhishek673@gmail.com

Thanks for making the rupee font. But when we write it on a word document and print it, a blank space comes in the place of the rupee symbol. Please make a software to enable us to print the font also.

Hi gentlemen! No praise can be too high for what you guys have done!! Though, the Rupee font developed by you is unicode based, is there any way out to link up the same with all windows fonts? I have tried it by converting your *ttf into private character mapping. By doing that, now I am able to get it in exel currency drop down menu as well. But, since, the private characters are not displayed in ms words symbol menu, I can not set a key board short-cut for the private character (Rupee symbol linked with all fonts) I created. Any suggestions and advice would be highly obliged if mailed to rajachattopadhyaya@yahoo.com.....

i have installed fordian rupee symbol but it is not working when i am clicking on font selection button then it displaying message that font cannot be used because there insufficient space on disk or memory but on my pc both the disk and memory spce are available.

Sir now we have rupee sign allow all the site and work in office even it public or private to do work in hindi language please

It is great to use our own Rupee symbol but in real it is not that much great ....coz it's like too near but still too far... other computer must have this FONT app to read it otherwise it is of no use or only of your use...limited use.
