I am using a french keyboard and i cant type it...
On both a website using the symbol and on receiving a mail with the Rupee symbol, a computer without the font installed just sees the ` symbol and not the Rupee symbol.
Is there a way to ensure that everyone around the world sees the correct symbol?
I am not able to store the font under "Fonts" folder. How is everyone saving?
saw ur article in paper today
1. Type our new Rupee symbol on new word document.
2. Select it.
3. Go to Tools -> Auto Correct Option -> Auto Correct Tab
4. In REPLACE column type Rs. and in WITH column select Formatted Text.
5. Click ok.
6. Now in any font whenever you’ll type Rs. it will automatic turn to our new Rupee Symbol.
For any query, please contact me without hesitation.

there is error in using this font, after downloading and pasting in font section , while using microsoft word 2007 version: it disappears when we select it and then press any of the styles key like: heading, title, subtitle, etc....please help us with this, anywayz thanks for your efforts...

praveen gautam.
new delhi.
Enjoy
Thanks for giving us a font like this.
NB: As against the experience of some commentators, your font is very much working in MS Excel also.
1) Type the Rupees Symbol in Microsoft Word through the grave acent symbol - ` (the key just above "tab" button in your keyboard).
2) Select the symbol (ie. Just like you do while copy pasting anything)
3) Click on Tools -> Autocorrect
4) In the Replace Text Box type in Rs.
5) Click on Add -> Ok
Working fine in English keyboard.............
It would be good if you also release a devanagari font with the Rupee symbol.
Thanks!
good job. pls make a jar file of it too for use on mobile phones. :-)

Any solution for this?
As regards 'publicity', it is well deserved. I hope that more companies will come forward and get publicity in a similar positive way.

My video shows how to use the new symbol in other fonts!!
Just a thought - could you make the currency symbol more legible? The second horizontal dash is not distinguishable in normal font sizes that are used in everyday text - such as size 10-12. It is clearly visible when magnified. To that extent, it becomes a design problem.
Perhaps your team used the dimension definition of the design to the dot. Perhaps that's something the Indian government needs to define clearly in terms of dimensions and measurements, but for now, lowering the dash somewhat closer to the middle of the symbol will work wonders in normal font sizes.
Again thanks and appreciate your efforts.
bu it cant be used for any chat ...fb..normal text typing..

any way u ppl have done a great job.wish u all success and especially for ur firm foradian
@Ronak was completely right. Shameless publicity. If I were sitting on another device without you font, i'd either see (`) or the [] like symbol.
You being a web design company should have understood the concept of font embedding across multiple devices easily.
No techie is gonna like this nightmare that you have created.
and from the Word Processor selected the font (Rupee Foradian), it is working fine in Ubuntu .very nice thank you to all team members behind Rupee font
I have set autocorrect in office word to change Rs to the rupee symbol automatically. That's one step. Now for universal usage...
i hav downloaded the ttf file bt but he file is not copying in the font foldr
plz help
If a small company like Foradian can do like this, just think what the Indian Govt and Media working together can achieve to get the rupee symbol into all PCs and Keyboards. It is possible and can be done in days.
It neither works here.
How to add this font to gmail, yahoo etc so that I can add this symbol in the time of composing a mail
Thanks
All the wishes for this effort.
Great job. It easily works both in Ms word and Excel. Thanks a ton.
Lowewr part of the symbol is empty.... not well balanced.... India should re-think
Enjoy and feel proud of the new face of Indian Currency
If everyone shows the same interest about the new symbol then it'll not take much time to get widespread....!!
Thanks to Fordian tech for the symbol
& thanks to Amartya Bag for useful manual
Instructions for installing ttf file in Linux:
As root user
1. Create a directory with "mkdir /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType/" (without quotes) if it does not exists.
2. Move the downloaded .ttf file to the above directory.
3. Issue this command ttmkfdir > fonts.dir
Thats it. Now open the OpenOffice Writer and Select the "Fordian Rupee"

K.SUBRAMANYAM
Open the folder where you have downloaded the font file.
Double click on the font file to open it. This opens a font viewer window.
On the right there is a button, "Install Font". Click on it.
Wait until the button turns to greyed out "Installed".
thanks a lot you guys rocks, this only shows you should have strong will power and our government not has that :)
nice work
FUCK : (U+20A8) already there for INR. Have it there.
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/20a8/index.htm
It allows me to do it in excel but then nothing shows up when I type it. I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and Office 2007
Have you tried to type it using the specified combo ? It is really difficult. We have know this glyph when we were creating font.
Please note that we placed the font instead of grave accent to make the process of typing simple. Just look at the above comments to see how many people are finding it difficult to type even in this simple method. Only solution is special key in keyboard. We have to wait till then.
You cant frighten us with the F-Bomb. We use it a lot. :D
Done in a few steps.. downloaded - mouse right click - install font ..
Its really a GREAT job......
See the updates
Currently, with your symbol re-using the ` symbol, I am not able to type this in my browser or twitter .. which is where I shall be using it.
working fine ...
Replacing ` with new rupee symbol make it font depended. All text with graves like à, è will look like _fbomb_. Making fonts Dependable is not a good practice in font development. I just checked the font in fontforge, it shows the system uses 'Reference' for designing those glyphs. Unlink those à, è and design the separately, so that it will be fine.
I just read this news on jagran.com and downloaded the font and it is working fine.
Friends who found difficult to download please see the YouTube help video and download and Enjoy..
Very good.
I tried as explained in your site. I am able to type the symbol in MS Word docs but when the doc get printed the symbol is not printed. I can see the symbol on the screen only. Kindly enlighten me how to get it printed on the hardcopy. It is printed like ~ wherever INR symbol typed.
i am proud to using it. thank you again.
Your effort is good but not in right direction. What I expect from you is to release high resolution, various sizes (16x16, 32x32, etc), transparent PNGs that can be used in any web as well as word documents.
Thanks for initiative
Congratulation,You undersatand more than GoI
It asks for "continue" for windows font folder. I "continue".
It is not showing in the "font" folder by the name "Rupees etc." !!?
I have checked in MS word, Notepad and Illustrator but I can't see in any Drop Down menu. :(
It's happy to get the INR font. It would be more of state of the art if the key stroke an be modified to a combination of keys like Ctrl+` rather than ` alone since this is a well known key used in Linux :)
I hv Windows Vista Home Starter. I cld not dnload the Rupee font & install with the procedure

I have installed your rupee font in my system and used with rosoft office word. But I have a suggestion in the design of the font. When more than one rupee font is typed together in a line without a space, there is no enough space between the fonts. The grid size or the left and right margin you provided in the grid for the font seems to be not enough. It is more evident when the font size is small. If I am correct ,please rectify.

Excell>>Tools>>Options>>General>>Standard Font -> change to Rupee Foradian
If this is not done the font in the cell needs to be change every time a new sheet is opened unless using an Excel Template.

We tried to use the Re symbol that u have made available via this blog. The problem that we faced was that we had decrease the size of the symbol manually — say, we select 36 size font; then, we see that Re symbol is two sizes (38) bigger than our normal 36 font. Then, we have to manually decrease its (Re symbol's) size. Please let me know if there is a solution.
We use the Quark Express 4 version. And if after changing it in Word, when we bring it to the page, instead of the Re symbol, we get the quote (`).
The other problem is that we can't find-replace it — neither in Word nor in Quark Express.
Regards,
Hitesh H.
It's working perfectly well but yahoo is not supporting it
The ecommerce websites like: www.tradus.in has implemented this symbol into there online shopping portal.
