Congratualtions on a fast job on the Rupee symbol. I downloaded it and it works like a cute lil' puppy. There's one problem though. Sites like Facebook cannot take it. For instance I cannot type the Rupee symbol on my Status Wall like I can do the $, though both are mapped to keyboard buttons. Nor can I name a file with the Rupee character (again unlike $). I could type it into MS Word and take a printout, though. What is the solution?

You have provided a free character but have you thought of storage issues, especially when thousands of innocent users will download and use the symbol which at present is not correctly stored.
Data retrieval will be a huge headache for these people and if unwittinglyndustires use your app. they might run into huge issues of remapping.
Please issue a disclaimer specifying that such issues are important and that users should use this app. at their own risk

Being a designer and of Indian ancestry, this has significance interest to me. However, while I should be excited, I have mixed emotions about both the design and opportunity this represented for design from India to shine on a global stage.

Chaitanya, while the keyboard mapping to ` is fine, I hope the rupee is encoded with the correct Unicode. The official rupee encoding is set at Unicode U+20A8 and your font should encode the rupee symbol with this value. This is will ensure forward compatibility for the documents. Whenever other fonts catch up and start having the new symbol at this Unicode position, the document will continue to show the rupee symbol regardless of font selection, as is the case with symbols like $, €, ¥ etc.

BTW, other countries must have the same issue — what key do they use for their currency symbol. Like in Britain or in European countries, do they use the $ key and map it to their currency symbol? Or do they use a different key? We can use the same method for the Rupee.

Glitch - Or is it just me?

So I install the new Font into my MS Office 07. It looks great, the shortcut works. Thumbs Up.
But... every time i use the autocorrect option to Replace Rs. or Rupee with the symbol, it automatically ("enters" and )goes to the next line. Why?

The UTC has accepted the code position U+20B9 for this character. Please re-encode your fonts to use that code position.

Foradian has beaten the bureaucrat and others in the dedication they have shown and proved that this country has talent to do in ONE DAY what the bureaucracy proposes in 365 days.

the Youtube demo is by a boy also proves sometimes such great things can be a child's play as well if there is a conviction.

I pray and wish that the Indian Currency should stand shoulder to shoulder with $, GBP and other universal currencies. The best thing happen to the country when the currencies reach should start from the rural, tribal and urban part of the country and economic well being an universal currency.

best wishes to Mike Everson and his supported get the Unicode and incorporate with an assigned key.

there is a faul in the above displayed 'Rupee' symbol. Just see the lower part, the 'descender'. It should be pointed, but you have made a blunt end, which is not there in the original symbol. Please try putting a correct design. Thank you
